Terms of Service

The rules for buying and using desk9 products — written to be read, not skimmed past.

Last updated: September 2, 2026

1. Who we are

desk9design.com/ is operated by desk9 from Germany. Our full company details and contact information are on the Legal Disclosure page. These terms apply to this website and to every purchase made through it.

2. Purchases are handled by Paddle

Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle is the Merchant of Record for all our orders: Paddle handles the payment, issues the invoice, and collects and remits applicable sales tax or VAT. Paddle’s buyer terms apply to the transaction itself; everything about the products, licenses and support in these terms is between you and desk9.

3. Licenses and the GPL

Our WordPress plugins and themes are licensed under the GNU General Public License (GPL v2 or later), like WordPress itself. Your subscription does not buy the code — it buys the services around it: a license key, one-click updates, new features and priority support for the term of your subscription.

Each plan includes a number of production site activations (for example 1, 5 or unlimited sites). Development environments — localhost, *.test, *.local and staging subdomains — never count against your limit. You can move activations between sites at any time from your account. Sharing or reselling license keys is not permitted.

4. Subscriptions, renewals and cancellation

All products are yearly subscriptions that renew automatically. We email you before every renewal. You can cancel at any time from your account — your subscription then simply runs to the end of the paid term. After expiry your products keep working exactly as they are; only updates, new features and support stop.

5. Your account

An account is created for you with your first purchase, using the email address you bought with. Sign-in works via one-time email links; a password is optional. Keep your email address current — it is where license keys, sign-in links and renewal notices go. You are responsible for activity under your account.

6. Support

Support is included in every active subscription and handled through the support page and your account’s ticket area. Response-time indications are targets, not guarantees. Support covers our products — not general WordPress consulting, custom development or third-party conflicts beyond reasonable diagnosis.

7. Refunds

14 days, no questions asked — for first purchases and renewals alike. The details are in the Refund Policy.

8. Warranties and liability

We build and maintain our products with care, but software is provided without any promise that it is free of defects or fits a particular purpose beyond what the law requires. Your statutory rights are not affected by these terms. We are liable without limitation for intent, gross negligence, and injury to life, body or health. For simple negligence we are liable only for breaches of essential contractual duties, limited to the foreseeable damage typical for this kind of contract.

9. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms — for new products, features or legal requirements. The current version is always on this page with its date at the top. For material changes affecting active subscriptions we notify you by email before they take effect.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by German law. If you are a consumer, the mandatory consumer-protection rules of your country of residence remain unaffected. Questions? Write to us via the support page.
