Kontur Pro: A calm block theme for studios, consultancies and service businesses

A classic serif voice, a generous grid, hairline rules and one confident accent color. 49 block patterns built from core blocks only, eight complete page layouts, three blog layouts, three headers and three footers, five color palettes that all meet WCAG AA, and fonts served from your own domain. One click installs the demo pages; every word, color and spacing value stays editable in the block editor. No page builder, no build step, nothing loaded from a third party.

Does a site that looks established need a page builder?

A consultancy, a studio or a software company wants a site that looks settled and trustworthy, not loud. The usual way there is a multipurpose theme with a page builder: forty demo sites, a settings panel with three hundred options, a shortcode language of its own and a site that stops working the day the builder is switched off.

Kontur goes the other way. It is a block theme: every section is a pattern made of core blocks, every page is edited in the editor WordPress already has, and the design lives in theme.json, where the site editor can change it for the whole site at once. What you get is one well-made look with the pieces a service business actually needs: a hero that explains, service cards, numbered benefits, process steps, key figures, a journal, a contact page, and the calm around them.

Core blocks only, fonts from your own domain, no external requests for your visitors. Switch the theme off one day and your content is still ordinary blocks.

Five palettes, one click

Indigo is the default; Forest, Petrol, Terracotta and Graphite are one click away under Appearance, Editor, Styles, Colors. Every color in the theme comes from the palette, so buttons, meters, charts, rules, tinted panels and the dark footer all follow at once. Each palette was checked for contrast: every text color reads at 4.5:1 or better, so all five meet WCAG AA. Single colors can still be changed afterwards.

How it works

Install, then one click for the demo pages

Upload the ZIP under Appearance, Themes, Add New, and activate it. Under Appearance, Kontur Pro one click on "Install demo pages" creates Home, Services with a page for each of its two services, Product, About, Journal and Contact, three sample articles in two topics, the main menu with its sub-menu, and sets the front page and the posts page. Pages that already exist are left alone. Then you replace the words, not the structure.

The home page further down: services, numbered advantages, the journal.

Build pages from 49 patterns

Heroes, service cards, numbered benefits, process steps with a connecting line, key figures that count up, value cards, testimonials, pricing, a team grid, questions, a location block, calls to action and eight full page layouts. They sit in the inserter under "Kontur" categories and are ordinary blocks once placed: no locked sections, no special editor. Progress meters and process steps renumber themselves when you add or remove one.

Contact: a form area styled for any form plugin, the address, a login box.

Change the look once, for the whole site

Colors, fonts, spacing and the header and footer live in the site editor. Three headers (no button, one button, buttons in the menu) and three footers (dark with four columns, light with a call to action, compact) are one Replace away. The header sticks to the top by default; the mobile menu is a drawer from the right built on the core navigation, so focus trap and Escape key work as WordPress intends. Lora and Inter are bundled as variable fonts and served from your own domain.

The blog comes with it

A journal that looks like part of the site: a magazine layout with a wide lead story and topic chips with counts, a text-first list with search and topic tabs, or a card grid with a sidebar. Two post layouts, standard and "Post: wide image", each with tags, an author box, previous and next article, comments and three more articles to read. Scroll reveals, animated meters and counting figures are subtle and switch off by themselves when a visitor asks for reduced motion.

Who it is for

Consultancies and advisors

Two or three services, a clear process, key figures and a way to get in touch. The service pages have room for what is included and how it runs; the journal shows that you think about the work.

Software and SaaS products

A product page with feature sections and mockup cards, pricing, questions and a login button for existing customers, next to a blog for release notes and articles.

Studios and agencies

A calm frame that lets the work speak, and a theme you can hand to a client: every change happens in the editor they already know, nothing to break with a builder update.

Service businesses

Craft, care, training or legal: a front page that explains, services with their own pages, a contact page with the address and a form area for the form plugin you already use.

Plans

There is one theme and it has everything on this page. The plans differ in one thing only: how many sites the license key activates.

What it does not do

This is the part most theme pages leave out.

It is not a page builder. You compose pages from patterns in the block editor and change them there. There is no drag-and-drop canvas, no theme options panel with hundreds of switches and no shortcode language.

It is not a shop theme. Kontur has no styles for WooCommerce or other shop plugins. A shop page will work, but it will look like the plugin made it, not like the rest of the site.

It brings no forms. The contact pattern has a styled area for the shortcode of your form plugin, and the fields pick up the theme styling. The form itself comes from the plugin you choose.

No sliders, no mega menu. The design is calm on purpose. There is no slider, no carousel hero and no mega menu; the navigation is the core Navigation block with one level of sub-items.

One look, five palettes. Kontur is one design with five color palettes, not a collection of forty demo sites. If you want a playful or loud site, this is the wrong theme.

It needs WordPress 6.7. The theme uses current block and site editor features and requires WordPress 6.7 or newer and PHP 7.4 or newer.

It ships in English. Every string is translatable and a translation template is included; the demo texts and the interface arrive in English.

Why not a multipurpose theme?

A multipurpose theme sells possibilities: every industry, every layout, every effect. You pay for them with a heavy page, a builder you have to learn and a lock-in that shows the day you want to leave. Most of the possibilities are never used; the site still loads them.

Kontur sells one decision, made carefully: the typography, the grid, the rules, the palettes and the patterns of a credible service site. Everything else is WordPress itself. The content you write is core blocks, the design is theme.json, and both are yours to change in the tools WordPress ships with.

Set up in three steps

01

Install and activate

Upload the ZIP from your account under Appearance, Themes, Add New, Upload Theme, and activate it. The license key arrives by email and goes into Appearance, Kontur Pro; from then on updates arrive under Dashboard, Updates. Everything works before the key is in.

02

Install the demo pages

On the same screen click "Install demo pages". Home, Services, the two service pages, Product, About, Journal and Contact appear with the menu, the front page and the posts page set.

03

Make it yours

Pick a palette under Appearance, Editor, Styles, Colors, set the site title and logo, and replace the demo texts page by page. Add sections from the Kontur patterns in the inserter.

Pro only, and what that means

Kontur Pro is the whole theme, sold once, with nothing held back for a higher tier. What you pay for is a year of updates and support for the sites in your plan, and the license key that delivers the updates inside WordPress.

The theme is GPL, like everything from desk9. It never contacts our servers on behalf of a visitor; the only calls to desk9design.com are the license and update checks from your server, at most every twelve hours, with the product name, the key, your site address and the installed version. After the year the theme keeps working; only updates and support stop until you renew. If something is missing, the ticket form is one click away in your account.

Frequently asked questions

Does it load anything from other servers?

Not for your visitors. Both fonts are bundled with the theme and served from your own domain, and there are no external scripts. The only outside connection is the license and update check, which runs on your server and carries no visitor data.

Do I need a page builder or any plugin?

No. Everything is built from core blocks and edited in the block editor and the site editor. A form plugin is only needed for the contact form; any form plugin works with the styled form area.

How do I switch to another color palette?

Appearance, Editor, Styles, Colors, then pick Forest, Petrol, Terracotta or Graphite. The whole site follows at once, charts, menus and buttons included. Single colors can still be changed there afterwards.

Will the demo overwrite my pages?

No. "Install demo pages" creates the pages that do not exist yet and leaves existing pages alone. It sets the front page, the posts page and the main menu, which you can change under Settings, Reading and in the site editor.

How do I use another header or footer?

In the site editor open the header or footer, choose Replace in the block toolbar and pick one of the other two. Three of each are included.

How do I switch the blog layout?

Open Blog Home (or Archives) under Appearance, Editor, Templates, remove the content between header and footer and insert "Journal: list" or "Journal: grid with sidebar" from the Kontur blog patterns.

Is it accessible?

Every text color in all five palettes meets WCAG AA contrast, headings follow a proper order, the mobile menu is the core navigation with its focus trap and keyboard handling, and all motion switches off when a visitor asks for reduced motion.

Can I use it with a child theme?

Yes, like any block theme. Most changes do not need one: colors, fonts, spacing, templates and parts are all changed in the site editor and saved in your database.

What happens to my site if I switch themes later?

Your pages keep their content: they are core blocks. Kontur-specific styles such as meters or process steps lose their look, but the text, headings, images and buttons stay.

Is it on wordpress.org or ThemeForest?

No. Kontur Pro is sold here only, with the license key that brings updates inside WordPress.

What happens when my subscription expires?

The theme keeps working exactly as configured. Updates, new features and support stop until you renew. No penalty, no data loss.

How many sites can I use it on?

As many as the plan you pick. A staging site never counts. You can move a license between sites from your account.

Can I upgrade to a bigger plan later?

Yes, from your account. You pay the difference for the rest of the year.

What if it is not for me?

14-day money-back guarantee, no questions asked. Renewals included.
