Project Gallery Pro: Your reference projects as a gallery visitors filter by product and industry

Every project with its own photos, filtered by what you delivered and for whom: product tiles and industry buttons on top, a full-screen lightbox behind every tile with the before/after slider, the customer’s quote and the project video. Grid, masonry or carousel, in your theme’s colors, and nothing loaded from a third party until someone clicks play. One plugin, one price, no free version to outgrow.

Project Gallery Pro: a gallery page with product picture tiles, industry filter buttons and a grid of project photos with wide and tall tiles, next to the lightbox on a dark stage showing a before/after slider, the project title, place, partner and a customer quote with five stars
The gallery filters by product and industry; a click opens the project large, with the before/after slider, the quote and the details. Every photo is yours, nothing is fetched from anywhere.

Live demo: a gallery with 16 sample projects on desk9.design (opens in a new tab). Filter by product and industry, open a project, try the before/after slider and the video.

Does a reference page have to be a wall of photos?

Most “Our projects” pages are a gallery plugin with two hundred photos in upload order. A hotel owner looking for a terrace shading project scrolls past car ports, balconies and a trade fair stand, and leaves before the one project that would have convinced them. The photos are there; the way to the right one is not.

This plugin starts from the project, not the photo. A project has a product, an industry, a place, a partner who realized it, and its own set of pictures. Visitors pick the product from picture tiles, narrow by industry, and get only the projects that look like their own. A click opens one project in full: every photo, the before and after, what the customer said, the video. The arrows lead to the next one that matches.

Photos come from your media library, filters from your own products and industries, and a project video loads from YouTube or Vimeo only after a click and consent. No external gallery service, no tracking, no build step.

The first photo is the cover of the tile; on hover the other photos fade in one after another, so a visitor sees the project before opening it. The click opens the lightbox on a dark stage (or a light one, or one in your theme colors) with every photo, thumbnails, arrows, keyboard and swipe, and the details next to the pictures: name, place, product, industry, the partner it was realized with and a short description.

Three things a photo alone cannot say: a before and after pair with a slider the visitor drags by mouse, touch or keyboard: after the first photo, at the end, or as a split-view cover of the tile. A customer quote with name, company and one to five stars, marked up as a schema.org Review. And a project video from YouTube, Vimeo or your own MP4 file that plays inside the lightbox, first, after the first photo or at the end, with two-click consent for the video services.

Grid layout with wide and tall tiles: sixteen projects with photos, each with a small card showing product, industry, name and place, a photo count and a play symbol on projects with a video.
The grid: wide and tall tiles as set per project, a card with product, industry, name and place on each.
Lightbox on a dark stage with a pool deck photo, arrows, a counter reading 1 of 4, thumbnails, and a panel with the product and industry, the title Harbor Hotel pool deck, the place Lisbon, a description, a five-star customer quote and a Watch the video button.
One click: every photo, the details, what the customer said, and the video one button away.

How it works

Products and industries are the filters

A product is what you delivered, an industry is who you delivered it to. Products are terms with an image, so the filter shows them as picture tiles; give a product sub-products and the tiles form a group. Industries are simple buttons. Counts update with every click, the "Show more" button loads the next projects, and a deep link like /projects/#terrace-shading opens the page already filtered: for the product page, the newsletter or the sales deck.

The Products taxonomy screen with products in groups such as Outdoor areas and Shade, each with its image, slug and project count.
Products with an image become picture tiles; a product with sub-products becomes a group.
The Industries taxonomy screen with Hotels, Restaurants, Private homes, Offices, Public spaces and Event venues and their project counts.
Industries are the second filter: who you delivered to.

A project is a post with photos

Under Projects, Add Project you give it a name, choose the photos from the media library, pick product and industry, and add what you know: the place, the partner it was realized with, a short description. Optional: a before/after pair, a quote with stars, a video link or file, and whether the tile is normal, wide or tall in the grid. The Order field under Page Attributes decides what comes first; a project published within a number of days you set gets a "New" badge.

The project edit screen with the Photos box holding three photos and an Add photos button, the Project details with place, partner and video link, the video position, and the Products and Industries boxes in the sidebar.

One block, three layouts, many galleries

The Project Gallery block renders the gallery with a heading, the filters, "Show more" and, below it, one card per product that has a product page plus a call-to-action button. Per block you choose grid, masonry or carousel, columns, tile height, spacing, whether project details sit on the photo, below the tile or only on hover, and whether the product filter uses picture tiles or slim buttons. "Show only" limits a block to certain products or industries, so the hotel page shows hotel projects and the dealer page shows theirs.

Product filter with picture tiles in three groups: Garden and light with Garden design and Lighting, Outdoor areas with Terraces, Pergolas and canopies, Pool decks, Outdoor kitchens and Balconies, and Shade with Parasols, Awnings, Shade sails and Event tents, each tile with a photo and its project count.
Products with a parent form groups: one row of picture tiles per group, each with its count.
Product filter as picture tiles without groups: eleven products from Parasols to Balconies in one row, each with a photo and its project count.
Products without a parent stand side by side, no group headings.

It looks like your theme

Text color and fonts come from the theme. In the settings you set an accent color and the corner style, then the hover effect, the tile frame, the filter style, the counts, the before/after labels, the New badge and a light or dark lightbox, with a live preview that changes before you save. Alt texts are written automatically, the project photos land in the image sitemaps of Yoast SEO and Rank Math, and everything is translatable with WPML or Polylang.

Who uses it

Manufacturers with a dealer network

Awnings, fences, kitchens, heating: every installed project filed under its product, with the dealer named as the partner who realized it. The dealer page shows only their projects; the product page shows only projects with that product.

Contractors and trades

The before/after slider is the whole argument: the bathroom, the roof, the garden as it was and as it is now. A quote from the owner next to it, and the next project one arrow away.

Architects and planners

Projects by building type, with the place and the description that says what the brief was. Masonry keeps every photo in its own shape; the carousel puts the best five on the home page.

Agencies and studios

A portfolio the client can keep filling themselves: photos in, product and industry ticked, done. The look follows the theme you built, so it fits without a single override.

Plans

There is one plugin and it has every feature on this page. The plans differ in one thing only: how many sites the license key activates.

What it does not do

This is the part most plugin pages leave out.

It does not optimize your photos. Photos are served from your media library in the sizes WordPress made of them. Compression, WebP conversion and a CDN are the job of your image plugin or host, not of the gallery.

It does not host videos. A project video plays from YouTube or Vimeo after the click, or from your own MP4 file exactly as you uploaded it. No transcoding, no adaptive streaming.

No client upload form, no bulk import. Projects are created in the WordPress admin, one at a time, with the media library. There is no front-end form for customers to submit photos and no CSV or ZIP import.

Filters, not search. Visitors narrow the gallery by product and industry. There is no free-text search across project names and descriptions.

No map of the projects. The place is a text field shown in the lightbox. Projects on a map, by radius and region, is what Partner Map Locator does. The two can share a site, not a database.

Stars are not Google stars. Customer quotes are marked up as schema.org Review, but search engines do not show star ratings for reviews a business publishes about itself. The markup is honest; the rich result is not promised.

It ships in English and German. Every string is translatable and the plugin works with WPML and Polylang. The interface arrives in English with a German translation included.

Why not a gallery plugin?

A gallery plugin knows photos. It can sort them into albums and show them in a lightbox, and that is where it stops: an album has no product, no industry, no place, no partner and no customer who said something about it. The visitor gets pictures; the question “have you done this for someone like me?” stays open.

Here the unit is the project. The filters come from your own catalog of products and industries, the lightbox tells the story of one job with its before and after, its quote and its video, and the cards under the gallery lead to the product page and to the button that asks for a quote. The photos are still just photos in your media library, which is why you can switch the gallery off and keep every one of them.

Set up in three steps

01

Install and activate

Upload the ZIP from your account under Plugins, Add New, Upload Plugin, and activate it. The license key arrives by email and goes into Projects, License; from then on updates arrive inside WordPress. Every feature works before the key is in.

02

Products and industries, then projects

Under Projects, Products add what you deliver (give a product sub-products to form a group) and under Industries who you deliver to. Then Add Project: name, photos, product, industry, and what you know about the job.

03

Place the block

Add the Project Gallery block to a page and choose grid, masonry or carousel. Set the accent color and the look under Projects, Settings. Then send the deep link to the product page.

Pro only, and what that means

Most desk9 plugins have a free version on wordpress.org and a Pro that adds to it. This one does not: it is the whole plugin, sold once, with nothing held back for a higher tier. What you pay for is a year of updates and support for the sites in your plan, and the license key that delivers them inside WordPress.

The plugin is GPL, like everything from desk9. It never contacts our servers on behalf of a visitor; the only calls to desk9design.com are the license check and the update check from your admin, with the product name, the key, your site URL and the installed version. After the year the plugin keeps working; only updates and support stop until you renew. If something is missing, the ticket form is one click away in your account.

Frequently asked questions

Does it load anything from other servers before a click?

No. Photos come from your media library. A YouTube or Vimeo video loads in the lightbox only after the visitor clicks play and gives consent, or already allowed the service in Borlabs Cookie, Complianz or Melon Consent. Video files from your media library play from your own site.

Do I need photos when I have a before/after pair?

No. A project with only a before and an after photo appears in the gallery; the after photo is its cover, and the tile can show both halves as a split view.

Can I show only some projects on a page?

Yes. In the block settings under "Show only" choose products or industries, or use the products and industry options of the shortcode. Several blocks on several pages can each show their own selection.

Will Google show stars for my customer quotes?

Usually not. The plugin marks quotes up as schema.org Review, but search engines do not show stars for reviews a business publishes about itself. Only publish quotes you have permission to use.

How do I control the order of the projects?

With the Order field under Page Attributes on each project: lower numbers come first. Within the same order value the newest project leads. Wide and tall tiles are set per project under "Tile in the gallery".

Does it work with the classic editor or a page builder?

Yes. [d9pg_gallery] renders the gallery with the same options as the block: layout, heading, per_page, filters, industries, links, products, industry, cta_label, cta_url, columns, size, gap, info, product_filter, show_count, show_video and show_tag.

What are the product cards under the gallery?

One card per product that has a product page in WordPress, with a heading and an introduction you set in the block, plus a call-to-action button with your own label and link, "Request a quote" for example. Switch them off per block when a page does not need them.

Are the photos in my sitemap?

Yes. The project photos are added to the image sitemaps of Yoast SEO and Rank Math, with automatic alt texts built from project, product and place.

Where is the data stored, and how do I move it?

Projects are a post type, products and industries are taxonomies, the photos are regular attachments. Everything is in your database and travels with a normal WordPress export. On uninstall you choose whether the data stays or goes; photos in the media library are never deleted.

What is the difference to the CodeCanyon edition?

The same plugin. On desk9design.com you get a license key and updates inside WordPress through the License page; on CodeCanyon updates come through Envato and there is no license page.

What happens when my subscription expires?

The plugin keeps working exactly as configured. Updates, new features and support stop until you renew. No penalty, no data loss.

How many sites can I use it on?

As many as the plan you pick. A staging site never counts. You can move a license between sites from your account.

Can I upgrade to a bigger plan later?

Yes, from your account. You pay the difference for the rest of the year.

What if it is not for me?

14-day money-back guarantee, no questions asked. Renewals included.
